Academic background

Medical degree (MD) at the University of Amsterdam (1985) and MBA at the University of Rotterdam (1987).  

Practical experience

From 1987 till 1991 he worked for Mckinsey & Company in Amsterdam and Brussels. In 1991 he started his career as an entrepreneur in the Dutch healthcare. Over the years het (co)founded several companies, i.e. Plexus Medical Group, a leading consultancy firm in the area of patient logistics, safety and strategy in healthcare. Zorgdomein, an internet application supporting the general practitioner in his referral to hospitals, Vision Clinics, the leading private eyesurgery clinin in The Netherlands. Alant Medical, a chain of semi private female clinics. All of these companies were established in cooperation with a local (academic) hospital.

Jaap is also very active as an advisor on the governmental policy level.
