Pi® ICU

How do you keep your Intensive Care Unit in control?

Why Pi® ICU, a small but relevant supporting facility?
The ICU is a relatively small but expensive facility responsible for about 10% of the total hospital expenditure. The most vulnerable patients are hospitalized here and small errors can have huge impacts.

This is the main reason that the ICU is top priority not only with most of the Dutch hospitals but also with the Dutch Healtcare Authorities (IGZ). In order to stay in control, it is necessary to know how this unit performs and what the overall contribution to hospital costs and quality is. For this reason Pi® ICU was developed.

With this tool, you will be able to

•  Know where you stand: see your position vis-à-vis other hospitals working with Pi® ICU
•  Keep track of changes: see your own development over time
•  Keep your target in mind: set your own target and adapt depending on your organizational goals

The essence of Pi® ICU

•  No additional registration: built on the data already available within your hospital*
•  In relation to NICE and IGZ definitions: indicators evolve with the development of ICU financing and
NICE and IGZ indicators. Without extra effort you will always have up to date information available
•  Independent of platform: always available for authorized users through internet access
•  Linked with Pi® BSC module: combined with Pi® Balanced Score Card (BSC) it is possible to link
IC management information to DBC data. This provides BSC data on ICU use with regard to DRGs,
   patient groups and specialism.

*Note: seamless link Pi® IC to existing Mediscore ICU modules.

Pi® IC: the first online Pi® module for performance of supporting facilities
The Pi® BSC module and DRG Profiles are developed for primary specialists. This shows the result for patients. As a specialists you also depend on the quality and effectiveness of supporting departments. For primary specialists is it therefore necessary to have information on the performance of these departments. For this purpose Pi® will be expanded with modules like Pi® ICU, Pi® OR, Pi® SEH, Pi® Radiology and Pi® Clinic. These modules are developed in cooperation with Plexus and our clients and are the logical next step. Pi® ICU is the first web based module for a supporting department.
